Life You Were Meant to Live – A Mind at Peace

April 30, 2008

Title: A Mind at Peace
Text: Philippians 4:8-9

God wants us to have a mental attitude that allows His peace to dominate our lives. This sounds like a pretty tall order, especially when you consider all of the things in life that can lead to anxiety and worry.

In this teaching we considered three things to do to that will help us have the mental attitude God desires for us to have:

  1. Own God’s Promises
  2. Learn from other Imperfect People
  3. Study God’s Word

Life You Were Meant to Live: Strive to Win

April 22, 2008

Title: Strive to Win
Text: Philippians 3:12-14

What are we holding onto in life? In this teaching we look at the challenge to “lay hold” of the reason for living, that is the same reason for which Christ “laid hold” of us.

Paul noted that he “lay’s hold” of Christ’s meaning for his life by…
- Forgetting the past
- Straining ahead
- Answering the call to win

Life You Were Meant to Live: Leave Your Pedigree at the Door

April 13, 2008

Title: Leave Your Pedigree at the Door
Text: Philippians 3:1-11

Within all of us there is an ache to live life right (which is called righteousness). What we put our confidence in to satisfy that ache is what Paul addresses in our text. He points out two camps of people: Camp 1 – people who put their confidence in the flesh; Camp 2 – people who put their confidence in Christ. In this teaching we look at the two and draw some lines of application for our lives today.

Someone who is legalistic finds confidence in…

  • External Form
  • Social Structure
  • Purity of Conviction
  • Meticulous Rule Keeping
  • Passionate In-Tolerance
  • Faultless Innocence

Putting Our Confidence in Christ provides…

  • Victory thru Christ’s Power
  • Fellowship because of Suffering
  • Transformation thru Surrender
  • Eternal Pursuit

Life You Were Meant to Live: You’re Better Than I Am

April 4, 2008

Title: You’re Better Than I Am
Text: Philippians 2:1-11

Christ gave us the perfect example of how we are to treat others around us. In this teaching we took the time to contrast the actions & philosophy of Christ and the world. We then looked at how God wants us to live a life like Christs that considers others better than ourselves.

Life You Were Meant to Live: You Can’t Take That Away

March 25, 2008

Title: You Can’t Take That Away
Text: Philippians 1:20-26

We all have an image in hour heads of how life is “supposed to be.” For many of us, we shape our choices, align our resources, and layout life goals in hopes of achieving that life. But is that the life God wants for us? What is the life God would have us live?

In this series we will consider the instruction Paul gave the Phillippian church to achieve “The Life We We’re Meant to Live.”
